A Facens is a Smart Campus, an innovative patented smart campus concept. A University Center maximum score (5) from MEC, which focuses on the development of professional citizens, with expertise in Engineering, Architecture and Technology and Health. Their level of education is recognized by the job market, which results in high employability of its students, being one of top Higher education institutions in Brazill (according to MEC indicators).

Founded in 1976, with 47 years of existence, it was the first institution of higher education in the area of Engineering founded in Sorocaba/SP. Its sponsor is the Associação Cultural de Renovação Tecnológica Sorocabana (ACRTS) and is considered a non-profit Federal Public Utility entity, certified as philanthropic by the Ministry of Education. As a result, it grants scholarships to its students who have proven socioeconomic needs and invests all of its results in favor of the Institution, which makes it possible to be an educational center in constant evolution.
Currently, it offers undergraduate courses in the areas of Engineering (Agronomy, Food, Civil, Computing, Electrical, Mechanical, Mechatronics, Production and Chemistry), Architecture and Urbanism, Health (Nursing, Dentistry, Psychology, Biomedicine and Veterinary Medicine) and Technology ( Systems Analysis and Development, Database: Data Science, Digital Games, and Information Technology Management), in addition to Postgraduate courses, MBAs and Specializations.
In an area of 100 thousand m² of inspiring campus, more than four thousand undergraduate and postgraduate students have access to a technological infrastructure, interactive classrooms, a modern and updated library and a sports area. A reference in innovation, Facens has more than 60 specialized laboratories and several partnerships with nationally and internationally renowned companies, such as Huawei, ABB, Emerson, Festo, Commscope, Veolia, Fraunhofer Institute, among others.

As a differential, it has innovation centers that allow its students to apply in practice what they learn in the classroom, Smart Campus, working concepts of smart cities in their projects, FACE (Entrepreneurship Center), LIGA (Games Development Laboratory and Apps), the 1st Fab Lab from the interior of Brazil, LIS (Laboratory of Social Innovation), LINCE (Laboratory of Innovation in Student Competitions), Farm Lab (for developments in the area of Agronomic Engineering) and more.
IP Facens is responsible for the area of relationships and partnerships with companies within the Institution, working with the RD&I part.

To train professionals for Companhia Rede Telefônica Sorocabana (CRTS), courses were created that would become the “embryos” of Facens: Telecommunications and Electronics, taught by the Santa Escolástica Regional Technology Center (CRTSE).
1976
On September 30th, Facens is founded by Mr. Alexandre Beldi Netto
1977
With the Electrical Engineering and Civil Engineering courses, Facens' activities begin, still within the Colégio Ciências e Letras, in the center of Sorocaba.
1979
Construction of the Facens campus begins, 1,5 km from Rodovia Senador José Ermírio de Moraes.
1980
Facens is recognized by the MEC
1981
The first engineers in Sorocaba graduate from Facens: 30 in Civil Engineering and 30 in Electrical Engineering.
1984
The Electrical and Civil buildings are ready, with laboratories, gymnasium and academic directory.
